5D Mk IV – EF100mm f/2.8 Macro – Einstein Studio Lights – 1/125 sec, f/5.6, ISO 100

I realized I had to put up a few more images into the Smoke Screen gallery to match with the length of the audio track. I took these using two Einstein studio lights set to the action mode which captures subjects moving at higher speed, in this case, the smoke. I had lights on directly on each side – one was shooting somewhat down, the other directly across. Out of 135 pictures shot, I had about 9 that I really liked, not a bad ratio. This one here is one of my favorites.

By the way, the effect in the Smoke gallery where the photos are moving is called the Ken Burns Effect. If you’ve seen his Civil War or WW2 documentaries, you will see this in action. It is a panning and zooming technique used to give the appearance of action to photographs when no film or video exists.

Canon PowerShot G7 X Mk II – 1/125, f/5.0, ISO 125

We had our first snowfall of the new year today – hard to believe I’m saying that and it’s January 20th. In reality, it was just a slight covering – shouldn’t even count as a real snowfall. I took this rather bland photo from the front door to document the event.
