5D Mk IV – EF100mm Macro – Einstein 640W Strobes – 1/125, f/7.1, ISO 100
I did a similar photo 13 years ago but using a Canon 50D. In that photo (below) I used a glass lasagna pan filled with water and oil and placed a multi-colored shirt under it. The shoot took place on the back deck. Today’s Photo of the Day took place in the home studio. I placed a glass bowl with water and olive oil on a table and added drops of blue and orange coloring. I started with a single strobe with a snoot attached but did not like the results. I then added a top light, but again felt it wasn’t enough. I then added a third light with a 10 degree grid and the resulting picture is what made the Photo of the Day.
