Railroad Sunset
Canon G7 X Mk II – 1/60, f/7.1, ISO 125
Well today I turned the big 62 – yep, it was my birthday. It also happened to be the nicest day of the year so far as it felt like early Spring. I took a bunch of photos of many different things. The photo of the day was actually the last picture I took today. I call it “Railroad Sunset”.
One thing to note: I have a color vision problem so the photo looks great to me. It was brought to my attention that the color of the sun at the time I took the shot was orange. However, the picture interpreted it as green apparently. I tried to correct in post-processing but it didn’t change. I suspect this has to do with the limitations of the sensor and the strength of the sun hitting it causing some error in interpretation.
I started the day by going outside. Yesterday, I received a lens calibration tool; I’d been feeling that some of my lenses weren’t as sharp as they could be. Last evening I spent about an hour calibrating a few of them including the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L II workhorse. I used it to take the shot of the wind turbine about 1.5 miles from the house. The focus point I used was the center of all 3 blades at the top of the turbine. I think the small lens correction I made helped a lot.
Unfortunately, the lens correction tool doesn’t work on the point and shoot G7 X Mk II. But the pictures I took with it, including the “Railroad Sunset”, which happens to be the Picture of the Day, turned out great (other than the green sunset). The below pic was taken before going into the restaurant for Birthday dinner. It memorializes the great weather we had today.
I took alot of pics of my granddaughter at dinner. What a cutie! To me, at least, photographing kids is hard. They are constantly moving! I suppose I will keep practicing – I can only get better!
These are all great!! Love the squishy face of Andie!
