5D Mk IV – EF 70-200mm f/2.8L II – +2x Extender – 1/500, f/6.3, ISO 400

Putting some more yard wildlife pics up. Both of the photos on this page were taken with the +2x extender attached which doubles the focal length of the lens. The only problem with using this is it removes two stops from the lens. If there is not enough light, the camera will lose the ability to autofocus. That didn’t happen today. I was in TV mode where I set shutter speed to 1/500 and the ISO was set to Auto. Focusing mode was Servo.

I will probably continue working on improving the wildlife photos. The only real issue I have is that I am shooting through a glass window that is both dirty on the outside, and has lots of glare. I can see that even with the posted photos, I can see the softness in the picture – they could be sharper. It’s supposed to get in the 60’s next week, so hopefully we can get outside to practice more.

  1. Cool how there is a reflection of the dinning room window in the eye of the first bird. Great pics!!
