5D Mk IV – EF 100mm Macro – MT-24 EX Macro TwinLite – 1/200, f/5.6, ISO 400, CWA Meter

It may not seem like it, but a few days ago I thought of doing this faucet and sink for a shoot. As it turns out, today was another crappy day weather-wise; cold, windy, and raining. So, in lieu of a Pulitzer winning photo, you get the bathroom faucet for the Photo of the Day.

This pic wasn’t technically challenging, but some things to note: 1. I used the macro lens, but this isn’t a macro shot. The 100mm prime is a great all around lens, and I chose to use it in this case. It filled the frame nicely, and there was no cropping. 2) I needed extra light, and I couldn’t bring in any Einsteins since the area is very tight. I opted to use the macro TwinLite with one caveat – I removed both flash tubes and held them in my hand straight up to minimize any shadows. The only other thing I could have done was add some light pointing straight down on the sink to help eliminate any reflection.
