Happy Pearl Harbor Day – the Day of Infamy! I was thinking of doing a PotD that was Pearl Harbor related. That was until I saw the inside of my smoker. I was going to roast a chicken and went outside to prep my smoker. When I opened the lid I saw acorns literally stuffed in the exhaust tube. There was all sorts of debris torn up – foil, plant debris, lint, yarn, etc. I ended up taking everything out and was amazed that the burn pot was totally stuffed with what you see in the PotD. I got my vacuum and sucked all this out. I then cleaned everything and turned on the smoker to 400 degrees for an hour.

Roxie thinks it was probably a small squirrel. I tend to agree since I don’t see how a mouse could get acorns up into the exhaust tube. Thank God it wasn’t in there when I opened the lid! That would have been like Clark on Christmas Vacation! By the way, I’m still roasting the chicken; just a little later than anticipated.

So here is a previously unreleased photo from our Hawaii trip. On May 17, we (with Nima and Tony) visited Pearl Harbor. This is our boat leaving the Arizona Memorial. On the left you can see the battleship USS Missouri which is where the Japanese signed the armistice to end WW2.
