5D Mk IV – EF 100 f/2.8 Macro – 640W Strobes (x2) – 1/200, f/6.3, ISO 100, Eval Meter
This is what I was trying to accomplish yesterday. You may remember the Cicada shell from August 17 (Day 229). Roxie found a small dried up, dead bee in the house so I thought I’d pair these two up and practice more focus stacking. This is a stack of 60 images. I could have focused a little further out since it looks a little funny around the back legs. Yesterday I had the camera set up on the tripod and just focused haphazardly, picking a spot here and there at random. I should have known better. Today, I set the camera on my macro rail which was on the tripod. The camera was set to manual focus. I then started at the very front, focused on the wood, and in very small increments moved the camera towards the models.
I had two Einsteins set up for lights. Once done, all images were put into Zerene Stacker. I’m still learning the program, but really like what I see. One thing to note, I had high hopes for the bee, but unfortunately it wasn’t in too good of shape. It looks like it’s legs are missing…
It’s like a scene from “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids”
