et non pas Monet’

5D Mk IV – EF 70-200mm L II – 1/60, f/4, ISO 100, CWA Metering

Today was an artsy day. Yes, this is an actual photograph. My original intent was to just photograph this stained glass up close, as I did for the original image below. However, I thought it would be fun to do an oil painting type of conversion. The image seemed ideal to do that because of the colors involved, and the background was relatively flat – like a canvas.

I tried several different lenses, and even used several extension tubes. In the end, my trusty 70-200mm delivered the image I liked best. After I got it into Lightroom, I began post-processing. I deliberately used large adjustments to the hue, vibrance, saturation, and luminance. I also made several other crazy adjustments. Next, I opened it in Photoshop where I applied various filters, particularly a paint filter and a blur filter. I also adjusted the saturation again.

So here it is. As the title of the photo says, it’s ‘not a Monet’. But I like it.
