I got to thinking that when I took the picture of the stained glass and did the oil conversion that I could do better. In that Photo of the Day, I took the easy way out and only used the oil filter in Photoshop. In my opinion, it looked kind of fake, and I thought I could do better.
Today, I went outside and gathered a couple flowers, I did a quick shoot outside in natural light, and another inside under the strobes. I did the usual initial post-processing in Lightroom, and then I pushed the images into Photoshop. Without going into detail, I experimented with the brushes and various filters and other settings. The end result, in my opinion, is so much better. Yes, there is room for improvement, and I will likely work on this more in the future.
EDIT: After looking at these even more, I think I can do a lot better. I’m going to research this a bit. Look for better work in the future.
Wow, both of these are great!
