5D Mk IV – EF 70-200mm f/2.8L II – 36mm Ext. Tube – 1/250, f/6.3, ISO 800, Eval Meter
Today I set out to capture nothing in particular. I went out on the back deck with the 70-200mm lens with the 2X extender attached. It was a nicer day, but still a little on the chilly side. I shot lots of pics of birds and squirrels, but then I saw a fly sitting in the sun. I first tried getting it with the 2X extender attached, but thought – why not turn this lens into a macro lens? I got the 36mm extension tube and the rest is history. He was staying very still (I think because of the chilly weather) and I was able to get quite close. One thing to note, it was not a light out as I would have liked – it was cloudy. I had to increase the ISO so I could maintain a decent shutter speed. More sun, less ISO would mean an even crisper shot.
During my time on the deck, I brought Mason out and he loves posing for those “He’s a good boy!” shots as you can see.
Wow, this is so great!
