We circled the entire island today. The tour was 10 hours long, so long day. I took a ton of pics, and many could be considered the Photo of the Day. Unfortunately, there can only be one, and this is it. This is actually a stitched panorama of three pictures. This is the Nu’uanu Pali Lookout, Oahu, Hawaii. This was an overlook on our trip today. Gorgeous view.
The pic below was actually taken from inside the tour bus. It’s a beautiful beach scene. The island is commonly referred to as Rabbit Island, because its shape as seen from the nearby Oʻahu shore (where I’m close to) looks something like a rabbit’s head.
We stopped at a Buddhist temple on the journey. The Byodo-In Temple is located at the foot of the Ko’olau Mountains in Valley of the Temples Memorial Park. It was established on June 7, 1968, to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii. The Byodo-In Temple in O’ahu is a smaller-scale replica of the over 950-year-old Byodo-in Temple, a United Nations World Heritage Site in Uji, Japan.
We stopped at a little hole in the wall restaurant, sitting along the highway, Fumi’s Shrimp Farm, for lunch. All I can say is the Spicy Butter Garlic Shrimp was out of this world.
Ok, here’s another flower macro shot. Don’t know what type of flower, but I like the shot.
We stopped at the biggest pineapple plantation in the world, The Dole Plantation. Over 50% of all pineapples in the world come from this huge plantation. In walking through some parts of the plantation, my only thought was “I am 62 years old and never knew pineapples grew like this – close to the ground but above land”. I kinda thought they were grown under the ground. How can this be?
Lastly, at the Dole Plantation, my buddy Beave met this friendly little kitten sitting on a garbage can.
NOTE: Just a reminder – All pics are high resolution images. However, to be most efficient at loading at acceptable speeds, they are reduced quality, lower resolution images on the PotD website.
Wow! So cool!
