Canon G7 X Mk II – 1/4, f/7.1, ISO 125, Eval Meter

Well I said I’d do some more water pics and here you go. I really want to try this technique with my DSLR since I will have much more control over the Neutral Density filter. This is not bad, but once again, I’m only limited to about a stop and a half. You be the judge, do you like this waterfall pic?

In order to get the water to look creamy, there are three things to consider. First and foremost is you have to slow the shutter speed down. For this camera, it appears around 1/2 second is ideal (but sunlight plays a big role in how slow to go). Slowing the shutter means you will have to shut down the aperture. For this camera, I maxed out at f/11. This still didn’t provide a good exposure- hence the ND filter comes into play.

Here is another waterfall pic.

This pic has two turtles sunning themselves next to a small waterfall.
