Canon 5D Mk IV – EF 70 – 200 F/2.8 L II – 2X Extender – 1/125, f/5.6, ISO 1250, Eval Meter
The Photo of the Day, and related pics, are not perfect. Using the 2X extender causes a reduction of 2 f/stops. Also, it was cloudy outside, and the focus of the shot was under a tree which exasperated the darkness. I had to up the ISO, and reduce the shutter speed to get a proper exposure. This leads to softness in the pictures.
However, I felt the pics were important enough to make the PotD. You see, I built this birdhouse 2 years ago, and for 2 years, it has been empty. This shows the new occupant(s) are building a nest. I’m assuming this because the PotD shows the bird taking a leaf inside – presumably to build a nest.
I don’t know what type of bird this is – I built the bird house on specs recommended for bluejays, but this does not appear to be a bluejay. Anybody know?
I will try to get some pics with better resolution. That means I’ll need a sunny day.
Very cool!
