Canon 5D Mk IV – EF 70-200mm f/2.8L – 2X Extender – 1/80, f/5.6, ISO 100, Spot Meter
Well this little baby robin showed up yesterday afternoon when I was done mowing the lawn. He hung around the yard for awhile and when we woke up this morning, he was on the deck screeching and hollering (like at 5am). The whole damn neighborhood heard him and his mom. At one point, he went back out into the yard, but eventually found his way onto a deck post on the railing. I took numerous pictures throughout the day and eventually captured the PotD. We were getting worried because it was just sitting in the sun. The bird’s mother would come and feed him at times. I went to grab the camera to snaps some more pictures, and when I got back (literally just a couple minutes) the baby robin was gone. We believe he managed to fly up into a tree!
I took the photo with the 70-200mm lens and the 2X extender for a 400mm focal length. I would have liked a faster shutter speed but had to balance the exposure so the highlights weren’t blown out, or the darks too dark – I wasn’t willing to increase the ISO to do that.
Cute little baby!
