‘Feeding Time’
Canon 5D Mk IV – EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro – Two Einstein 640W Strobes – 1/250, f/11, ISO 100, CWA Meter
I was missing doing some indoor macro – not tiny stuff, but something unique. I went down into the basement and was looking for something, anything really, that could be different. I came across this little bag of pigs, it’s actually a game we played called ‘Pass the Pigs’, and I thought I might be able to do something.
I got an 11×17 sheet of glossy photo paper, arranged the pigs on it, and put up a black background.I set up two strobes – one up high to add a snip of light from the top. The other strobe was almost level with the pigs as I wanted to try and cast long shadows.
I put on the 100mm Macro lens and tethered the camera to my laptop and every thing was on the tripod. I also put the remote on the camera. I first took a series of pics of the pigs – it was a focus stack of 9 images. I then thought, let’s feed the pigs. So I got a little crouton and placed them around it. The PotD was also a focus stack of 9 images.
If I do something like this again, I’ll play with the light a little more. Maybe add just a touch from the left. In any case, I give you ‘Feeding Time’, the Photo of the Day!
Ha! Love this idea! Very cute!
