GoPro Hero 10 Black – 30 sec, f/2.5, ISO 261, Average Meter
This was my first foray into astrophotography, albeit the poor man’s version. I set my GoPro Hero 10 black to night time-lapse mode. I set the camera for a 15 minute time where it would take 16 pictures during that time, 30 second exposure for each pic. This was set up in the backyard facing east – southeast. I was amazed to see the focal length of the lens was 2.71! That is very, very wide. That is why there is so much light in the bottom – it was capturing the ground clutter.
I then took the 16 photos and put them in a program called StarStaX. This program basically merges night photos into a single Star Trail image. What is interesting about the picture is you can see what I believe to be a meteor on the left side. I originally thought this might be the International Space Station, but I checked the NASA website and the ISS wasn’t in this area at the time the pics were taken.
I really liked the whole process in this – and I’ve consulted my good friend Cleaver (a master astrophotographer) for advice. You may see more pics soon – I plan to use my 5D tonight – the sky will be clear…more to follow.
This is amazing!!
