Canon 5D Mk IV – EF 70-200mm f/2.8L – 1/5000, f/2.8, ISO 1000, Eval Meter
Today I set out as a wildlife kind of day, but it had a twist. I knew I would need fast shutter speeds, but…it was cloudy and kind of rainy off and on, so that meant a high ISO. I grabbed the camera and 70-200mm lens along with the monopod and set up camp on the front porch. The squirrels were pulling all sorts of shenanigans today – sitting on top of bird feeders, fighting each other, etc. I didn’t intend to take a picture of a squirrels; actually, I was focused on birds.
In the PotD, you can see a bird in the upper left flying away. Well just a second prior, that bird was sitting right where the squirrel is grabbing. This picture is somewhat grainy given the ISO. But I took my eye off for a split second and missed the actual jump of the squirrel.
I might continue this for awhile, the hummingbird in back is going to be a challenge, but I promise you this, that little bird will be a PotD soon.
This is an incredible shot!
