Practice makes perfect. I need to redo a couple of rooms for a real estate project I recently. It’s not that the pictures are bad – they are exposed fine. However, I was so focused on exposure that I neglected to look for things that would detract – like a rug out of place. Anyway, this is good practice and that reshoot might be as soon as tomorrow.
This is our upstairs spare bedroom. I took several pics with the ceiling lights on and off. I think you really have to play this one by ear. In the case of this room, the overhead lights looked really harsh. I opted for the onboard flash. The old saying ‘Expose for Ambient, Fill with Flash’ makes perfect sense (it means to expose for the light coming through the window, the rest of the room will be exposed with the flash). This saying allows you to see through the windows to outside while also being able to view the nice interior.
Looks great!
