5D Mk IV – EF 24-70 F/2.8 L – 640W Strobes (x2) – 1/200, f/6.3, ISO 100, Eval Meter
This right here is 2,145 pages of the best military history I have ever read. It is a historical trilogy of the war in the Pacific from 1941 to 1945 by author Ian Toll. These three books I read in late 2019 and 2020 while I was retired the first time – at least the first two books. The Twilight of the Gods (how cool of a title is that?) came out in 2020. That one is 926 pages so I read that in mid 2020. I have started reading that one again and am on page 163 (you can see my bookmark peaking out the top). These books were even more timely for me in that I read them prior to our Hawaii trip this year. It helped make our visit to Pearl Harbor even more memorable.
The photo is a typical product-type shot. I used the 24-70mm lens as I wanted a tight framing of the photo with no cropping. The focal point was right on the edge of 70mm. I also used two Einstein strobes. I had one on top and one in front just slightly off to the left side (that was the main light). That one also had a 22 inch beauty dish with a sock diffuser attached – I wanted to avoid glare.
Even though I was Air Force, and these books are predominantly about Naval and Marine forces, if you are into military history, you absolutely have to read them.
Great! I need to borrow these!
