5D Mk IV – EF 100 F/2.8 Macro – 640W Strobe x1 – 1/200, F/6.3, ISO 100, Eval Meter
Well Fall arrived a few days ago and farmers are starting to harvest their crops. Our backyard is basically a very large field of several hundred acres. They rotate crops every year, and this year it is popcorn. I found a sample on the ground in our yard while mowing and thought this might make a good PotD.
I decided today I’d try and capture it. I also decided this would have to be a focus stack. I used my 100mm Macro lens, but it’s not really a macro picture as I was about 4 ft from the corn. However, the depth of field was still very narrow at 4 ft (and an aperture of 6.3). This image is actually a composite of 35 images. I only used one Einstein, and that was directly on top. The Helicon Focus software did a great job and I’m getting more comfortable with it. The only concern I had was halfway through the shoot, I got a low battery warning on the camera. I was worried I’d run out of juice and I would have been forced to start all over as I’d have to move the camera to get the battery out. Als, I didn’t though and was able to finish.
Cool photo!
