Canon 5D Mk IV – EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro – Einstein Studio Lights – 1/125, f/22, ISO 100
It was another day to practice with the studio lights. I have 3 lights on these dog toys. The left side was the primary key light with a 20 degree grid installed. The left side was barn doors but it was set a little closer to the models and more in front. I had a strip box over the top to add some accent lighting.
So it was 10 years ago today that I took my most favorite series of shots – the best of the best is above. From a technical standpoint, the 5 pictures aren’t great. You can see the one above is grainy and ever so slightly not quite in focus. I did not use a flash or a tripod. You can see that I had the ISO jacked up, and the shutter speed was 1/30 second. What is impressive is I took the series of pictures using only my right hand. I had had major shoulder surgery 10 days before and my left arm was in a very awkward brace. However, the emotion that the pictures capture is something I had not anticipated when I took them.
Edit: 1/27/22 – I was asked where the series of 5 photos were. Well, I will put them in another post soon. Those photos are archived on a separate hard drive.
