5D Mk IV – EF 50mm f/1.2L – 2.5 Sec, f/6.3, ISO 100, Eval Meter
Don’t these look good?! I was in Meijer yesterday to pick up the new Top Gun movie when I meandered over to the tuna section. I was hoping they’d have some caviar – no such luck. But I did see these and made an impulse purchase. The photo was done in studio with all natural light coming in from the window just behind the cans. I set the aperture to that sweet spot of f/6.3 and then adjusted the shutter speed for proper exposure. This necessitated a tripod, with a 10 second shutter delay to insure there was no movement or shake in the camera.
The actual raw image (see below) was typically very flat, but this is why shooting in raw is so beneficial – you can do a lot in post-processing. Whereas, if you let the camera convert the image to a jpg, you are limited with what can be done.
