The Beauty of Nothing V. I was wondering around the house today and my eyes fell on this brick in my office. This brick and I go back 36 years – to 1986. You see, this brick came from the old Officers Club when I was stationed at Grissom AFB. I didn’t acquire it until many years later after the Active Duty Air Force left Grissom. I had gone back a few times to the air museum, and once for nostalgia, I drove around the old base. I came upon the O Club and saw it was falling apart so I walked over and took a brick.

Enough of that. With almost 30 days left in the PotD project, I’m working hard to identify picture opportunities around the house (when it’s not feasible to go out) that are not boring. So in this case, I used this to experiment with my new Zerene focus stacking program. What I did in this case was to change the apertures across 7 pics from f/6.3 to f/32. Not sure it actually did much as it’s a pretty flat image to begin with. At first I tried to straighten the image out, then the more I looked at it, the more I liked how it was tilted just a bit.

Just for trivia, the last Beauty of Nothing was taken on Day 230 (August 30). Could you see this hanging on your wall? Beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder.
