5D Mk IV – EF 24 – 70 mm f/2.8L II – 580EX II Speedlight – 1/60, f/9, ISO 100
I’m guessing many people may have peeked into other folks medicine cabinets when using their bathroom while visiting. Well that gave me the idea of having a peek into our refrigerator freezer. The camera was handheld and I started with an off-camera flash mounted on a Pocket Wizard remote trigger. That didn’t give me the results I wanted, the shadows were unacceptable for what I wanted to achieve. So I put the Speedlight on the camera (I know that you already know I don’t like on-camera flash). I reduced the flash exposure by 3 full stops to ensure I didn’t blast out the white sides of the freezer. I like the results, but I think we need to clean the freezer.
On a related note, I took a similar picture 17 years ago in 2005 (not on the same day) It is posted below. I took this with what I consider my first major digital camera – the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT. From the metadata, I didn’t use a flash. It’s a different fridge but I wonder if any of the food is the same? Hmmm…
