5D Mk IV – EF 50mm f/1.2L – SpeedLite 580EX II – 1/320, f/6.3, ISO 200

Went to visit Steph and Ryan today so packed up the new EF 50mm f/1.2L lens. I wanted to test the low light capabilities with the grandkids, but even with the aperture wide open, I still had to jack the ISO up around 2000 at times. I don’t like taking pictures that high because of the noise introduced, and today was no exception. I took a number of pics, but most seemed soft and somewhat noisy, agghh.

I threw on the Speedlite and that worked to get the eyes in focus, but, of course, the background is somewhat dark. I took quite a few pictures, but this one I liked the best due to the focus. Oh, it also takes a special kind of person to photograph children! LOL.

Look for many more photos to come with this lens. The bokeh at f/1.2 is exceptional. Under studio lights, or sunlight, I’m confident the pics will be outstanding! Below are some other photos today.

1/60 (too slow), f/1.8, ISO 400
1/60, f/2, ISO 400
1/200, f/7.1, ISO 100
